Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the release of 453 new industry standards in Announcement No. 3 of 2026. Among them, the QB/T 5296-2026 “Wiping Tissue” industry standard has attracted significant attention. The new standard will officially replace QB/T 5296-2018 and is scheduled to come into effect on September 1, 2026. It introduces clearer requirements for wiping products, including wet wipes, cleaning wipes, disinfectant wipes, kitchen wipes, and baby wipes.
The revision of the Wiping Tissue standard further improves the product classification, scope of application, and key technical indicators. As wet wipes and disposable wiping products continue to be widely used in household cleaning, personal care, and food-related environments, the updated standard provides clearer quality guidelines for wet wipes manufacturers, brands, and suppliers, helping to improve the overall quality and safety of wet wipes products.
One of the most notable updates is the new chemical safety requirements for wiping tissues used on tableware and kitchen utensils. This change means that products such as kitchen cleaning wipes and kitchen disinfectant wipes must meet stricter safety standards, reducing potential risks from chemical residues and improving consumer safety.
With the implementation of the new standard, the production and quality management of wet wipes, disinfectant wipes, baby wipes, and other wiping products will become more standardized. For consumers, this means access to safer and more reliable cleaning wipes and hygiene wipes. At the same time, the update will encourage the wet wipes industry to move toward higher quality, improved safety, and more professional manufacturing standards.
For wet wipes manufacturers, private label brands, importers, and distributors, staying informed about these industry standards is essential to maintaining product compliance and strengthening competitiveness in the global wet wipes market.
